01-06-2012 - Successful second IDBC conference

On the 24th and 25th of May, UMS Group Europe organized the second IDBC Conference at Stedin's office location in Utrecht, the Netherlands. During last week's IDBC Conference, the participants discussed the overall results of the 2011 run. By presenting their own working methods and specific projects / programs that take place, they shared the latest status and developments in the fields of grid availability, risk based replacement strategies, and the impact of decentralized power generation on (power) quality e.g.

Within the conference, plenty of time was reserved for two discussion sessions about managing the execution of activities /
projects, and the organization of the emergency response function. All participants prepared themselves for the discussion sessions on the basis of predefined templates, so information could be compared to a maximum.  By doing so, the topics could be discussed in-depth; what solutions work best in which circumstances?

The conference offered a successful platform to the participants to share their experiences and knowledge and give possible new entrants an insight in the IDBC.

What participants said about the IDBC conference:

Future development will be that customers dont accept any interruptions anymore, so it is essential to learn the best practices in the sector.

Working at a grid operator is more than cables and transformers, as energy is considered an important factor for future, sustainable, development.

From the feedback from the participants we learned it had been an exciting experience where many new insight where gathered and shared.  In September we will start preparing for the 2013 cycle. First step in this process will be the design review of the program.
